Hunting for
Red Duiker
The red duiker is smaller than the common duiker but larger than the blue duiker. Its chestnut-red color and crest of red and black hair on the head, resembling a third horn, are distinctive. Both sexes have short, straight horns. Red duikers are solitary, shy, and prefer dense forests and bushy areas. They are browsers and eat fallen fruit, needing daily water. Hunting them is challenging due to their size and habitat, with only fleeting glimpses offered. Red duikers can be hunted year-round in South Africa, often around forest margins and water bodies. They respond to distress calls and make excellent full mounts. They're part of the “Tiny Ten” species.
