Hunting for Porcupine
African porcupines are among the largest rodents in Africa, some exceeding two feet in length. Their most distinctive feature is a coat of sharp quills, which they raise when threatened to appear more intimidating. These nocturnal herbivores feed on plants, bark, fruits, roots, and tubers. Though not a primary target for hunters, they make impressive full mounts with their quills raised. Their quills are used in traditional medicine and crafts. Porcupines can be hunted year-round in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, often as a trophy of opportunity.
