Hunting for Scimitar Oryx
The Scimitar Oryx, once widespread in Northern Africa, was declared extinct in the wild in 2000. However, thanks to conservation efforts through game hunting preserves, it survives today. In South Africa, it can be hunted year-round, typically using the classic African spot-and-stalk method. These antelopes, known for their keen senses, inhabit open spaces, adding challenge to the hunt. Captive herds on game farms are crucial for reintroduction programs, making hunting a sustainable model for their conservation.
