Hunting for Jackal
Jackals, part of the dog family like coyotes and wolves, can be hunted year-round in South Africa. Many landowners request hunters to shoot jackals on-site. These nocturnal animals are usually encountered early morning or late afternoon. At night, use a predator caller and spotlight to hunt from a camouflaged vehicle. Jackals are wary and won't respond to a caller twice. Bowhunting from a blind over water can also be effective. Jackals are omnivores, feeding on carrion, fruit, and small animals. They are alert and cunning, making hunting a challenge. A full mount or kaross made from pelts can be a unique trophy.
