Hunting for Waterbuck
The waterbuck is a large antelope always found near water. Typically in small herds, only the bulls have horns, and both sexes have a distinctive white rump ring. Due to its tough, foul-smelling meat, predators often avoid it. Waterbuck are territorial, with bulls engaging in fierce combat. When hunting, use strong binoculars and a powerful rifle. Aim for a high heart/lung shot or a frontal chest shot for the best results. Their waterproof, oily hide can taint the meat, so care is needed when skinning. Waterbuck are hunted year-round in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
