Hunting for Common Reedbuck
The common or southern reedbuck is a medium-sized antelope found near water, particularly on floodplains. It has a long neck, sturdy legs, and powerful hindquarters. Only rams have short, ridged, forward-curving horns. Its color ranges from yellowish to grey-brown with a grayish-white throat and belly. Unlike the impala or mountain reedbuck, it lacks black stripes and is water-dependent. Aim up the foreleg for a high heart shot. Reedbuck can be hunted year-round in South Africa and Zimbabwe and is known for excellent venison. It makes a great shoulder or skull mount.
