Hunting for Oryx
The giant oryx, or gemsbok, is a magnificent antelope from the Kalahari, known for surviving harsh conditions without surface water, relying on moisture from food. Both sexes have long, spear-like horns, with females often having longer, more slender ones. Beware of the predominant humped shoulder; it will try to trick you into shooting too high. Follow the back line of the front leg to about one third into the body and squeeze. Never shoot above the horizontal midline of this beautiful antelope unless you are in need of a good day’s hike. Their striking horns, beautiful markings, and delicious meat make them a prized trophy and a must-have in any hunter's collection.
