Hunting for Blesbok
The blesbok lives on the open plains of the South African highveld, forming herds of females and juveniles, while males tend to be solitary. They are primarily grazers, with brown necks and backs, darker flanks, and white bellies. Both sexes have horns, so hunters must carefully identify their target. The best hunting times are morning and late afternoon, as they rest during the hottest part of the day. Blesbok, once near-extinct, have been reintroduced to game farms, now numbering in the hundreds of thousands. They can be hunted year-round in South Africa and from February to November in Namibia, with May to September being ideal due to cooler temperatures.
